T.W. Robinson Co. Limited General Merchants Moose Jaw, Sask.
(Good For $1.00 In Trade)

Titus Robinson came west from Ontario in 1874 to Winnipeg. Early in 1882 he visited Moose Jaw and deciding that there was a great potential started a grocery store with William H. Rumsay. Rumsey sold his share to Titus in 1886 and returned to Toronto. In 1889 the business had doubled in volume so the small one storey building was torn down and a much larger two storey building erected on the site. In 1904 to keep up with the ever increasing business a large 5 storey building was built. It is thought that tokens were issued around this time and used until 1910 when Titus Robinson took in Walter F. MacBean, his treasurer, as a partner. At this time MacBean was made manager and director and the name of the company was changed to Robinson, MacBean Ltd. Titus Robinson moved to Toronto in 1911 to live but still maintained a share in the business, leaving all transactions up to his manager. He passed away in 1913.

Meal S.T.S. Token
(Meal S.T.S. Token)

In 1950 the Saskatchewan Training School moved to a new location, several miles south of Moose Jaw. A cafeteria was provided in the main building for use of the employees. A payroll deduction was used for the payment of the meals but this resulted in considerable controversy each month between the accountant and employee as to the exact number of meals eaten in the cafeteria. So in 1958 a token was issued, sold to the staff for 35¢ and good for any meal that was eaten in the caferteria. On January 1st, 1969 the price was raised to 60¢ per token.
