G. Phaneuf Bakery La Fleche
(Good For 1 Loaf Of Bread)

Gilbert Phaneuf opened the bakery in 1918 and operated it until 1941 when he closed the bakery and started a locker plant in the same building with his son Victor as partner. Tokens were issued around 1925 and used until a short time before the bakery was closed. (Farnsworth was the original name, his grandfather came to Canada from England and settled in Quebec. He married a French girl whose family could not speak English and they had difficulty prouncing Farnsworth. It sounded like Fanoff so he changed his name to Phaneuf to make it read and sound like a good French name.)

Langham
F.J. Penner Langham. Sask
(Good For 2½¢ In Trade)

Frank Penner opened the poolroom and confectionery in 1921. Tokens were issued in 1924 as Mr. Penner thought that this might stimulate more interest at the pool tables. He was charging 5 cents per game and would give the winner one of these tokens that could be used at the tables or in the confectionery. The tokens did not bring the desired result and after only two months of use they were withdrawn. Some time later the tokens were used in the confectionery, "good for a quart of milk" and were then holed so the tokens could be hung on a wire.
