Canadian Colonial Trade Tokens

Introduction

Token Index

Introduction:

This series of pages list most of the trade tokens which were used in every incarnation of what is now known as Canada in the 17th and 18th centuries.

It shows most of the tokens which can be found in the following publications:
- "Illustrated History of Coins & Tokens Relating to Canada" - P.N. Breton and published in 1894. Click HERE to View
- "Popular illustrated guide to Canadian coins, medals &&" - P.N. Breton and published in 1912. Click HERE to View
- "A Charlton Standard Catalogue - Canadian Colonial Tokens" 10th Edition, edited by Clement Chapados-Gerard, published in 2020.

These pages are in no way a comprehensive record of the history of each token, nor do they list every detail related to each token.
There have been many books written which go into extreme detail, especially the Charlton Catalogue which is still in print and available from your favorite retailer:

Tokens with Breton #s not in the
Charlton Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens (10th Edition)

While a large number of the tokens listed in P.N. Breton's catalogues from 1894 and 1912 are listed and re-catalogued in the 10th Edition of the Charlton Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens, not all tokens were re-catalogued.
This section details most of the Breton tokens not found in the Charlton catlogue.
