Currency of the Dominion of Canada (1923-1924)


This page shows examples of each major note which was issued for use between 1923 and 1924 in the Dominion of Canada.
It does NOT cover minor varieties.
All of the currency designs displayed here were printed for circulation as legal tender.

NOTES:

New collectors might assume that the printed numbers found on Dominion of Canada banknotes are "serial numbers". This is not the case. Notes were printed in sheets of 10 each (25 cent notes) or 4 each for all other denominations. The number found on each note is actually the sheet number, and all notes on each sheet share the same number.
Each note on the sheet was assigned a "Check Letter" to distinguish it from the other notes.
25 Cent notes were printed in sheets of ten notes each as shown below.
A "Check Letter" was printed on each note- A, B, C, D or E on the left half of the sheet, and H, J, K, L or M on the right half as shown below:

All other denominations were printed 4 to a sheet, with Check Letters A, B, C or D as shown below:
